Heartfelt worship on Resurrection Sunday

Heartfelt worship on Resurrection Sunday

A week of celebration!!!

Dear brothers and sisters,

Greetings to you in the name of the Resurrected Lord: JESUS!

As I am writing there is complete silence at my house. The only thing that I can hear is the sound of the coconut leaves praising God as the wind is making its way through them. I can also hear the melody of the crickets and the noise of the clock reminding me each passing second.

And, contratry to the way it was last weekend at this time, the streets are calm. No rara bands invading the streets to celebrate, as they always do in Voodoo because Jesus died. Well, that all changed on Sunday morning, because on Sunday He was raised from the dead.

Total shock in the visible world, particularly in Jerusalem. Total shock in the spirit world governed by Satan. Total shock among his enemies. Total shock among His friends! Yes, He is alive. I still like the wording of the first phrase of Luke 24:34: “The Lord has really risen.” In case you might doubt, the reality is, there is no doubt about it. So it is time to celebrate.

I enjoyed the whole day last Sunday. Every minute of it was a source of joy to me. I did not get to enjoy it as much last year, because I was not here. I was visiting with a church and I felt like they needed to be stronger about The Resurrection. We need to be crazier about the truth and reality of the resurrection.

We could not tell how many were in the crowd. The most conservative people thought the attendance might be 700 people. We had a couple people whose preacher’s count estimated that there might have been 1000 in the audience. What matters was we came to worship the resurrected Lord and we did.

We started off very early and met on the church property in the open. We had an audience with brand new Christians and non-Christians as well. For some of the Christians it was their first Resurrection message. One of them was particularly crazy with joy because he was in Church that Sunday — something contrary to where he used to be. Praise the Lord!

We used the bus to transports our chairs. A lot of the people who live close and everybody who felt like carying one came with their own chair. We still had a few standing up. We had great singing. Great meditations for offering and communion and the message of the resurrection was proclaimed. It was an authentic celebration.

In the afternoon we had another celebration. We had a graduation ceremony for the first class of the vocational school. We had sixteen graduates. They enjoyed receiving their state sanctioned diploma. They were proud of themselves and we also were proud of them. The graduation was also a reason to celebrate.

We celebrated because there has been big progress on the basketball court. Today the students were already happy using it, even though one eighth of it is not done yet. That is left for tomorrow. If would think about whether we need to celebrate or not the students would start celebrating while we are deciding and we would join them anyway. Praise the Lord.

Another reason to celebrate is that this week we have four brothers with us. Scott Yates is the leader of the team. Scott is a graduate of Central Christian College of the Bible. He brings with him Steve, Sean and Gary. We are happy to have them and our kids celebrate having these men around.

Paul wrote to the Philippians “When I pray for you, my heart is full of joy” (Philippians 1:4 Living Bible). You know, I feel the same way both when I pray for you and when I am writing to you. God makes it all possible through you. So you are my joy. I know you may be facing tough times now. In cases like that we need to really believe that our God is all powerful. He can do everything. Remembering that should lead us all to a celebration.

God bless you all.

Humbly yours,

Salonique Adolphe and team
