Eight Years of Blessings

Dear brothers and sisters,

Greetings in His name!

As we are preparing for the eighth anniversary of the church here we get busier and busier. The demands increase and so does my stress. I believe that the stress of many workers at Living Water increases as well. Consequently, last Monday I felt very incompetent, surpassed and overwhelmed.

When the time for the leader’s meeting arrived I had nothing ready except a 3X5 card with three scribbled lines. As I walked from my office to the meeting room I felt it was important to think back about the blessings God has given Living Water in the last 8 years. Each leader was supposed to give one special blessing. The rule was not to repeat what somebody else had said. At the end we all felt stronger and abundently blessed.

I got the idea to do that from the song of Johnson Oatman, Jr entitled “Count your Blessings.” I have mentionned it on different occasions. The second stanza was what I needed that day. “Are you burdened with a load of care/does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear/Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly/And you will keep singing as the day go by.

There were 20 people in the meeting. I am sure you would like to know our praises to God. Here are they.

  1. Victories over the enemy and his demons
  2. Protection of our people against the cholera
  3. No death in our leadership in the last 8 years in spite of the efforts of the enemy
  4. For so many works he has done for Living Water
  5. Privileges God has given us to help others during natural disasters and normal time
  6. The progress of the construction of the dinning hall
  7. Continual growth of the school
  8. Continual growth of the church
  9. Dynamization of the sunday school
  10. Protection during all the natural disasters
  11. The great beginning of our present crusade
  12. Increase of our vehicles/buses
  13. Unity among us
  14. Land for present and future expansion of Living Water
  15. For giving us courage to go on
  16. Dump Truck [we don’t have it with us yet, but because they know of the efforts of the brothers at Timberlake and our supporters to fund it, they have started praising God already]
  17. For all our supporters
  18. Good testimony of Living Water in the city
  19. Purified water
  20. Baptism of some special people.

The praises are not organized in order of importance, rather in the order people gave them in the meeting. Each one was giving by a leader as a reason to praise God. They said if there was another round they would add more.

We are having a six day crusade. It is going very well. I don’t know how many have come forward yet, but every night we catch some fish. (Jesus challenged us to be fishers of men)

We thank all of you who sent stuff for us in the buses. School students have all received their boxes already. Pictured is Lugens with his box. Please pray for him as he is now in the hospital with typhoid.

Thanks to Anthony for sending us brand new funiture for our living room. The kids enjoy the couches. Gine is very pleased with them.

Melinda continues her ministry of teaching at the school. Pray for her as she continues to impact the lives of our students.

Thannks to Brother Harold for the microphones. They are precious.

Tomorrow several of us will head to Port-au-Prince to welcome a team of 14 men of God who are coming to celebrate the eighth anniversary with us. They will teach, preach, give meditation, and do hard labor on the occasion. Pray for them.

We are in need of a video camera and one for photos also. If you can provide one for us we would appreciate it. We would appreciate having something that will be durable and do a good job. I was in shock when Rosemond was telling me the one I bought last year is about to die. When I asked how come he said that we drain all the juice out of it by using it too much.
