Blessings and Challenges

Dear brothers and sisters,

Greetings to you in the name of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus!

Watching fellow sisters and brothers in worship is a blessing.  It is a reminder that God’s blessings are not just for us. They are for everyone who willfully chooses HIM as Savior and Lord.

How blessed I am when I see a fellow Christian who is a former witch doctor giving herself or himself in worshiping HIM. Formerly Satan was trampling them under his feet and they are now set free by Jesus.

It is also a reminder that we ourselves should constantly worship Him too. We are all among the “would be …” and the  “could be …” of the devil. Thanks be to God we are set free. So please be blessed knowing that people continue to turn from darkness to the Light through the work that God has entrusted to Living Water.

It is also a blessing to see over a thousand students in our schools take the street in the quest of a good education every day. We have a total of 817 traditional students between our two schools plus more than 300 adults in our evening school. They are all making the choice of getting a good education. It is a blessing to be part of that.

God has blessed you, and will continue to do so, as a supporter of the work of Living Water. Many of our students are in service to the Lord either at Living Water or at other institution. You have played a part in that. You have played a part in making those 21 adults complete their high school education at a time when many were telling them they could not do it. You are our blessing  and they are your blessing and mine too. May the Lord continue to use you to bless many other thousands of students with a good education. This is the true path for a better tomorrow for my country, Haiti.

Strong Wind Uncovers the Roof of White Mountain Church

Strong Wind Uncovers the Roof of White Mountain Church

We do have daily challenges. There are too many to name. Here is one example. Last Sunday, I participated in the first service at Living Water. After the first service I had planned to go to worship with the brothers and sisters at White Mountain. Their service is a little later than our first service. I had a good time in worship with them. But, something happened in the afternoon that mere human beings could not have predicted. The roof of the church building was completely ripped off by a strong wind which come with rain and a very fast flash flood.

It is still hard for me to believe that not one person got hurt. The church is the place where the kids of the neighborhood always congregate to play soccer. This is the place where they have youth group every afternoon. The side of the building where the wind dropped the metal sheets of the roof is the place where the kids have their kids circle. Some churchs might call it their kids zone. This is the place where the neighborhood people come to fill their buckets with water. Yet it is at the same place that this catastrophe happened, and not one person got hurt. It is a challenge and a blessing as well.

The challenge is to find a way to have worship on Sunday in that building. The people of the church have already come together with a solution. We also have the obvious challenge to replace the roof. The people of the church say they are ready to work. We need the funds to do the work. One preacher who has come to Living Water a couple times now told me they have raised half of the 5000 USD needed for the roof. We need the other half. We need to do all the other work to have a strong and completed building. I rely on your generosity to help us with that. It is a challenge, but Our God is able and His name has been glorified and will continue to be glorified in spite of this challenging situation.

Please see the four pictures. Two of them give you a glimpse at what has taken place at White Mountain.

Your brother in Christ,

Salonique Adolphe and team
