Have no fear!

Dear brothers and sisters,

Greetings to you in the name of Our Lord and Savior, JESUS CHRIST!

I meant to write this e-mail last night. After a long day of hard work I had a mild headache. So I decided to change plans and write it today instead. When I started to write it my boys invited me to watch Facing The Giant with them. Brother Terry West, I believed gave us this movie last February. I have to confess that I never got the chance to sit down and watch the whole thing until tonight. I had fun. I enjoyed the movie now I am writing the e-mail. My prayer and my hope is that all of you are doing well in the Lord. The body may ache. Things like that happen, especially if God grants us the privilege of longevity. Things may not be going the way we want or even wish, but if God is on our side, we are winners.

I am sure you are aware that everywhere in the world countries are having problems. The economy of all the countries in the world are hurting. Even the good ole USA is not an exception.

Here in Haiti people are living in fear of another wicked and nasty Hurricane. Here in Gonaives every day it is cloudy, even if there is not one drop of rain, people have fear. Now if we happen to have a few drops of rain we are talking about a state of complete panic.

Some political leaders have decided to constantly talk about fear. Anyone who is not on their side is dead meat. There is a fire here or an earth quake there. All those things show how fragile things are and how human beings have to turn to God who gives us assurance and who keeps saying to us: “Do not be afraid”.

38th day of ceaseless and tireless work

38th day of ceaseless and tireless work

As we continued to clean we remembered that today is our 38th straight day of cleaning. Some people are trying to discourage us. They say we are wasting our time. Other hurricanes are coming. Some even say that the next ones will be worse. My sons frequently ask questions begining with “What if”, and I already know the rest. They are imagining another hurricane. Well, God knows the future and I don’t. Nothing can happen to me that is not according to His will. So, while I have time, and while he gives me the chance, the rest of my team and I will continue to clean. We will prepare for school to start in less than two weeks now. I do not fear and I will do my best to be reminded of Paul’s admonition to us, “In everything give thanks, for this for you the perfect will of God”.

The boys never stop working

The boys never stop working

This week we made two teams: adults and boys. You would be surprised how hard my boys work. You would be pleased to see their devotion to what they are doing. You would be proud of them, just like I am.

We also have a team working on repairing broken school benches and making new ones. We are preparing to welcome as many students as possible. The larger our pond the more fish we will be able to catch for the Lord. The school is our fishing pond. Pray for the students who are coming: so that they give their lives to Christ and so they choose to serve Christ by serving His people and their world.

My friends, I am humbled by your love. I am humble by your generosity. In the midst of economic difficulties you have faith that there are more blessings for those who give than for those who receive. You trust that God will turn your loaves and fishes into a feast. He is the Master at that. He has done it in the past. He can do it in the present and He will do it in the future. Please, accept my heartfelt thanks. Praise God for individual donors as well as organizations that help us financially and who pray for us. Thanks be to God for IDES. Thanks be to God for Malaria Fini who has provided mosquito nets. Thank God for the Iron Men who provided the BUV. We are starting to put it to good use by transporting people and supplies. Thanks be to God for YOU.

I love you in the Lord.

Your brother in Christ,

Salonique Adolphe
