Learning the secret of being content

Dear beloved brothers and sisters,

Greetings to all of you in the name of Jesus, Our Savior and Our Lord.

I am sorry that I have not been able to write for more than 15 days. That is a long time. I was very, very busy. This time I learned not to stress myself too much. This was the first time I actually made an effort to remind myself of what a wise preacher often said to me, “One day at a time.”

After trying my best to do the things that I know need to be done during the day I still find things that I was not able to do. I have learned to accept that I have neither the right nor the power to stop the clock. That is God’s job.

So I enrolled in life’s school of learning to be content, not just with what God has given me in term of material blessings, but also things He has allowed me to do. So, I am learning the ABC’s of being content about what I am able to do in a day, etc.

I just want to reach a point when I can say with Paul, “I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” (Philippians 4:12) That seems to be for me the formula of happiness. Let us spend the rest of our lives applying it.

Last week I arrived in Boston and was trying to be content. I was very sick with a flu. I praised God for that. I am thankful that it is not this week. If it were this week, “All things would still work together for good of those who love the Lord.” Let us learn to be content.

My wife (Gine) and I left Boston Friday at noon. When we landed in St Louis we looked for I-44 with brother Anthony Windsor behind the wheel and then ended up in Lebanon, MO. We visited with a few people when we arrived.

Sunday we were with the beloved brothers and sisters of Southern Heights Christian Church. Brother Terry is doing a phenomenal job there in Biblical preaching. We spoke during Sunday school hour and the folks were very nice to us. Thanks to them all and particularly Anthony’s parents Mark and Kathy.

Sunday afternoon we headed toward Mount Vernon Christian Church. We had a time of fellowship, fun, food and faith strenthening. Those people blessed us beyond description. Brother Mark chauffeured us to Sedalia where our American parents Fred and Jan Green picked us up. We are now home and Gine is reading cook books as I am writing this e-mail.

We are pleased with the people God has placed at Living Water to work for Him. These men and women are dedicated to honor HIM. Let us pray for them. We are now a total of 88 people on staff. The picture you see is a handful of them.

While we would like to have the other branches of the vocational school in operation, we are learning to be content with what the Lord has allowed us to do at the present. We have over 40 ready to be graduated in December and we have about 100 preparing to take the government test. Please pray for their success.

We give honor, glory and praise to our Lord for all the students he sent our way this year. Satan is already attacking us by making some of them demon possessed. Well, God has set them all free and there is a revival at birth on campus. Pray so that the revival spreads like wild fire to the point that all the students give themselves to the Lord.

We thank God for the cooks. They are doing a great job for God there. Please pray for them as well.

The last picture is one of the recent Church services. I don’t know yet how many we had last Sunday in our churches. The previous Sunday we had over 515 people in Service in Gonaives. Praise be to God.

Let us learn to be content with whatever circumstance we are in for the glory of God.
