Praise Be to God!

Dear Teammates,

Greetings to all of you in Jesus’ name!

We have been together in the long process of transforming Haitian people and Haiti thru Jesus Christ for 11 years now. Next week our school will celebrate 11 years of service. You have taken men like Sam, Daniela, Esther, Djharlens, Bethanie, Junior, etc from the 7th grade all the way to 13th. All those men and women are in college now.

Sam for example is getting ready to graduate from business school this coming July and is thinking about his Masters Degree. It is a big accomplishment by God thru YOU! Others have decided to take their children from 1st grade up. Some of the first graders are 11th graders now. For example Bob and Terri L. has Wiseline now in the 11th grade. Emile and Linda has Roody in the 7th grade. It is a big accomplishment by God thru YOU. So because of these transformations, and hundreds more, we praise God.

Last Saturday we had 6 people, ranging from 15 years old to mid fortys who accepted Christ in the water of baptism. One of them was my son, Marc. I am proud of all of them. My son concealed his decision from everyone, including mom and dad, until the very last minute. The important thing is that the decision is his and we celebrate with him. Praise God for that!

A few years ago, when we launched the cafeteria, we were using charcoal. We did not like that for many reasons. Kenai Christian Church stepped up and brought cook stoves and we stopped using charcoal. We have been using propane for several years now. Praise be to God for that.

When we were fed up with the city’s unreliable electric supply, and the unreasonable bill, our brothers and sisters from Kenai again picked up the ball and provided all the equipments that we need to have our own solar energy system. After the team came last February to install it, it arrived in the city the very day the team was leaving Gonaives. Too bad!

Mark Cialak and a couple of other guys were contemplating staying to install it. But we did not know for sure when we would get it out of Haitian Customs. It turns out it took more than two weeks. The schedule of these brothers would not allow them to return any time soon. We had our brothers from Cincinnati talked to our bros. in Kenai. Together they made arrangements for our bros. in Cincinnati to install the solar panels. And they did.

Ten brothers and sisters worked hard this week for the installation: Alan, Randy, Kerry, Brian, Terri, Karen, Ethan, Violet, Emily and her mother Crystal. They valiantly faced the scorching sun and did the job. At the end we encountered a hurdle. We will have to wait until next month to use the system. We are now much closer than we were before to have this reliable energy on our campus. Praise be to God and thanks to you all.

May God continue to use all of us to transform Haiti.

Please, while we praise God for all the above, remember to prayer for:

  • Ezechiel and Josiane Prophete. She is in the hospital waiting for delivery with twin babies
  • Bob and Terri Leinbauhg
  • The financial situation of Living Water
  • The transitional church construction
  • Our upcoming short trip to the States next week
  • Caceus, the preacher of White Mountain, and his wife. She has medical problems.
  • Another friend of mine who is facing a tough time now. I don’t have to give his name — God knows.

Blessings to you all,

In Christ,

Salonique and Team
