 A drop in the bucket
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Greetings to all of you in the name of Jesus!
I want to apologize for not being able to write a detailed report for a few days now. It has not been easy to concentrate on giving you any update because so much is going on right now. I thank God for all the people who are pouring aid into Haiti. They are government officials, non-governmental organizations, churches, individuals, schools and others. Whether they do it in the name of Jesus, or out of philanthropic reasons, we praise them. Who would learn to do good to others, if Jesus did not champion that?
 I do have one thing that I want to point out. While a lot of aid is flowing into Port-au-Prince, I fear that there are other places who need the aid as much as Port-au-Prince but do not receive much, if any. I am not saying this because I have done better, but because we all need to do better.
There are two kinds of neglected victims:
- Cities that are devastated but don't get much media coverage, such as Leogane, Jacmel and Petit-Goave. I want to assume that Grand-Goave is affected also, but I have not heard anything about that.
- People they sent to the provinces in cities like Gonaives, but who receive little attention.
 We need to help those people as well to keep them all alive. We need to go to these areas as much as Port-au-Prince. They are suffering a lot. Many of these people feel lonely (being away from home), if not rejected.
Last Tuesday we made aid distribution in Gonaives. We went to all three health centers and distributed food to victims, parents of victims and people who are taking care of them. We distributed food, water and the daily necessities. In a few instances we gave them money. I praise God for that. It went smoothly with no negative incidents. The staff in each center was great! The people were very appreciative. I must say our ladies put lots of thought and love into making the packages. However what we were able to do was a drop in the bucket. But many drops will eventually fill the bucket. It is not too late for you to help.
 The rest of week would be a roller coaster for me. Early Wednesday I head to Dominican Republic for two reasons. I will drop Luke off at the airport in Santo Domingo to go back to College (Central Christian College of the Bible). Then I will greet our beloved brother Bill DeFries who is coming with love, thoughtful gifts and encouragement.
Alberto Rivas and our dear brother Domian Cuello, a minister in a Christian Church in Montecristi, returned with us on Saturday with help for the earthquake victims: rice, spaghetti, sardines, peanut butter, oil, monetary gift, etc. I was deeply touched by brother Domian and Alberto's kindness. They are at the present at Caries with Dee and Wickly. They will leave tomorrow to return to D.R. They plan to return to Haiti soon. We praise God for their drop in the bucket.
 Yesterday, although tired, ill prepared and burdened by what is going on, I went to church. I was a little late. But I made it about 5 minutes after the service started (a shock for Americans, the preacher is late). But I could not have had more joy as the service got rolling. People came with a greatful heart. A few made the decision to surrender to Jesus. One young man in his late 30's told me "I postponed my baptism many times. I always thought that I didn't have the time, but now I realize you don't play with such a serious thing. I am ready." Guess what? He is now a baptized believer. His office was destroyed but he left it minutes before the earthquake. He works for the government finance department in Port-au-Prince. Praise the Lord for Him.
The total attendance for both our services was 645 people yesterday. That would make any preacher's day. It made mine.
Monday morning I was visiting in Saint-Marc with Roberto and Domian. I will return with Living Water people to Saint-Marc Thursday. That same day we will go to serve our fellow countrymen in Port-au-Prince. We will probably serve a few in Cabaret too on our way to Port-au-Prince. Pray as we are preparing for these trips. Pray for our safety and pray that we can act with respect and genuine love for the people. Pray that they may see Jesus in us. We plan to bring some Bibles too. Let us continue to put more drops in the bucket.
Since my clock says 5 minutes to 1 am, I will stop here. But I cannot leave without telling you that I love you. I thank you for your encouragement. I thank you for your kindness to serve your fellowmen for the glory of the King of kings.

P.S. The last picture is to show you that we have made some progress on building the wall of the Church property. Also, I am so thankful to God for my sister Bea, whose life God saved during the earthquake. She looks very good now even though she was in Port-au-Prince during the earthquake and the day after. Praise God for her.
