 Hope: God's hidden motivator in man Dear brothers and sisters, Greetings to you in His name! At this time last Friday Haiti said "welcome" to me with a temperature of 86 degrees F. In spite of the great fellowship and kingly treatment that I enjoyed from my brothers and sisters while I was in the States, I did long for that moment. Then came my wife with hugs and kisses followed by the warm welcome from my friends and finally the joyful screams my from kids: "men papi, men papi" (here is daddy, here is daddy). I had hoped for all these things. My little girl is becomming more and more attached to me. I will take the advice of my friends who have told me to enjoy it while it lasts. You know, I had hoped to be home. I then wonder what it will be like to be in our eternal home. The joy we experience here will be proverbially pale.
 Now, what about those who only believe in naturalistic philosophy? What about the people for whom there is no God and there is no life after death? What about the people who find truth only in the test tube of the their lab? I think it must be a miserable life to live. It is a life without God's hidden motivator in man: Hope. As for us Christians, we sing with the choir: "Our hope is in you Lord."
Last Saturday was the sixth anniversary of Living Water Christian School. We had a nice thanksgiving service followed by a reception. During the service Dominic, one of our second grade girls, gave a vibrant and humorous speech. I had goose bumps as I listened. She convinced me that there is hope for Haiti. So it is worth all the toils that we go through to make this school move forward and it is worth YOUR sacrifice of money and prayer to make it happen.  The speaker for the occasion was Abraham Pierre, one of our students at the Bible College. I have decided to use our people in most of our events. This way they practice; they are stretched ant they get experience under their belt. I could not be more proud of him. In this news item you will also find a picture of the audience for the sixth anniversary. We did not really have enough space to properly welcome all of these people. Thank God they understand. Seeing our girls and boys gives me hope -- and not just me. It gives hope to many people. Our principal, Mr. Fevrier, gets very emotional whenever he sees our students performing. We share that joy with him.
Last Sunday we had 505 people in the worship service. Imagine if all those 505 people applied the Great Commission! Isn't there hope for Haiti? Inspite of what is being said in the streets; inspite of the fact that people continue to die in the ocean trying to escape from Haiti to find a better life elsewhere, I strongly believe that there is hope with JESUS!  There is also hope for our students to get their soccer field back this coming fall. The soccer field was filled with more than three feet of mud after the hurricane. While we are getting ready to ship the bobcat, an organization decided to help us by hauling thousands of tons of mud out of our campus, but the guy said that the job cannot be completed with his loader and added, "you will need a bobcat." Little did he know, we have a bobcat coming soon. Pray for that. With the arrival of the bobcat, we will be able to level the field easily.
Please pray for Haiti, particularly the city of Gonaives. Last sunday, we had a big rain and people were so fearful that very few people slept. My wife put everything she had down stairs up stairs now.  Then last Tuesday night at midnight our phone rang. The caller said the rivers are full and we could be flooded any minute. Very few people slept that night. They stayed on the watch. Please pray that God will solve this problem for our city. There were people's home who were actually flooded. Some of them are members of Living Water. They had up to a foot of water in their home. Our home was not flooded, the school was not flooded either. We still hope for better days.
