The Star of the Children Camp at White Mountain

Living Water Update

Dear brothers and sisters,

Greetings to you in the name of Our Lord: Jesus Christ!

I want to express first my gratitude to every one of you who makes it a priority to pray regularly for Haiti, Living Water, and my family. In the battle that we are engaging in, prayer is of the highest value not only for the success of our efforts, but also for our safety in a land where there is not such a thing.

This year again, thanks to First Christian Church of Mountain Grove, we had our traditional one month of church camp for the kids. Although we limited our recruitment of kids and staff, we were about to be forced to cut the camp to two weeks. However, thanks to some funds that the Wilkenson family made available to feed, we were able to continue the camp for another two weeks, a decision that pleased kids, parents, and staff. Contrary to previous years, the camp took place at White Mountain because it was not feasible to hold it on the school campus. We will more likely do it on the church campus, if the Lord makes it possible to take place. I could not enjoy it myself because of other engagements outside of Gonaives, but my wife, the minister of White Mountain, the kids, and the staff had a wonderful time.

Living Water completed, three weeks ago, a 30-day revival. We had ample time to praise and to pray to the Lord, and to listen to powerful preaching of the gospel. It was a blessed time for the whole congregation. The administrative council under the leaders of brother Fevrier did a fantastic job in coordinating the event.

The thirty-Day revival did not end in my presence because I was in Port-au-Prince in the process of securing a student visa for my youngest son Eliel. When I arrived in Port-au-Prince, I thought that I would be there for a few days, I ended up being there for close to one month. I had the longest days and weeks there. It was a time that actually reminds me how fragile human beings are. I also saw the ugliness of having a godless and heartless leadership at the head of a country. God granted us the visa. Eliel was in class in person today in Madrid.

We had difficulties evacuating from Port-au-Prince. After many phone calls, emails and WhatsApp messages, we left Port-au-Prince in two separate flights on two different days. Praise God for His provision and his care. Praise God for that family who housed us during three weeks in Port-au-Prince.

My brothers and sisters, it has been six years since I have been dreaming of the day when I can share great news about the stability of Haiti. Unfortunately, the day has not arrived yet. In fact, if it were not for our faith in God, we would be discouraged, or hopeless. Because the gangs continue to dictate their laws throughout the country.

For example, in the night of Saturday (Sept 20) to Sunday, the gang that labels themselves as Kokorat San Ras invaded for another time L’Estere and Kapenyen. They forced the people to flee for their lives. They killed people in L’Estère. They burnt down all the homes of the village of Kapenyen, and its rice mill. They killed the animals of the farmers and hurt several people. The villagers successfully took refuge in the rice field, and they were not killed. They also invaded last week the town of Bassin Bleu that is located about 18 miles South of Port-de-Paix. Not counting the killings in Arcahaie last week where over 50 people lost their lives at the hands of murderous gang members.

Our only hope is Jesus. He is the only one who can raise capable, loving, and sensitive leaders to bring about progress in Haiti.

The results of the government exams are back. Living Water, as usual, performed very well. The schools of John & Helen Meyer of Highland and Fred Joseph Green have 100% success in 9th grade as well. Gonaives has 95% success and Marmelade has 85% success. We have 86% of success in 13th grade, while the city has 28% success.

Among those who finished high school this year is my youngest. Many of you know her as the little girl who cried a lot and enjoyed being on daddy’s lap. She is on her way to college now. Time flies. The results of the 13th grade at highland were not too good. However, we rejoice with the two students who completed their high school this year. They will retake the test in December.

My brothers and sisters, as gloomy and dark as it is in Haiti, it is not the time to back off. It is time to move forward. It is the time to work together to destroy the plan of the devil for Haiti. Consequently, please continue to pray for Haiti. Please continue to give to Living Water as we continue to engage in Church planting, in education, and in healthcare of the Haitian people. God has already given us too many victories to get discourage at this point. Please, please continue to be generous to the cause of Living Water.

We need funds for:

  • Classrooms’ construction at White Mountain (Institution of Fred Joseph Green), and Highland (Institution of John & Helen Meyer)
  • Classrooms finishing and furniture at the University
  • Construction of the Church at Marotte
  • School supplies
  • Salaries
  • Support to people in need
  • Orphanage

May God bless you as you continue to be a blessing to Living Water.

Your brother, His son,

Salonique Adolphe and team

P.S. I have just read that my wonderful friend and ministry partner Gary Hinkle had a terrible fall resulting from, or resulting in a stroke. He broke several ribs and collarbones, and other complications. He has been in ICU. Please, pray for him and the rest of the family.
