It is God’s doing
Dear brothers and sisters,
I pray that this message finds you doing well both physically and spiritually. On this note: Greetings!
As I am writing we have a group of about 50 people who are in a village for the day evangelizing. Actually they plan to cover about three villages. The Ford bus will return them this evening. They are there to share the Good News of salvation. It is an act of God because the people lay aside their daily activities to share the love of God.
When we left Petit-Goave we decided to focus our attention on people who have taken refuge in Gonaives. This is what we are now doing, though we are thinking about going back to some of the most affected areas to distribute tents before the rainy season arrives.
Our latest distribution was last Tuesday. We targeted 120 families so we prepared one kit per family. The ladies had 121 instead of 120 ready. Every kit has 30 lbs of rice, 6 lbs of beans, spaghetti (4 packages), cooking oil, dry fish (herring), laundry detergent (both long bars of laundry soap and powdered detergent), toiletry stuff (tooth paste, bath soap, deodorant and the like). The beneficiaries included parents of students in our school, church members and people in the community. However, right after that distribution we received a lot of requests for help — especially for food.
Yesterday we also distributed some money for clothes to about 20 people. We gave them an envelope with the money and explained to them that it was for clothes. Some of the people, even two months after the earthquake, face challenges to find something to wear. Some even said that this was one of their obstacles to come to church.Another said that she comes to Church because she is grateful that she is alive, but would love to be able to buy clothes and not just one pair to come to church. We hope that this humble gift will help them solve their temporary clothing problem. We thank God for making this possible.
Last Sunday we had 648 in worship service. After the second service we headed to the creek where 17 people were baptized into Christ. We ask you to pray for these people. One of them, Willy, is a young man who was a witch doctor. He came forward when we had the national fasting on behalf of Haiti. He was demon possessed then, because the voodoo spirits were not willing to let him go. It is a joy that he made the decision to be God’s child. Pray for Willy in particular. So far he has attended all the Sunday services and Bible studies.Since the earthquake the school has tried to find different ways to get new students involved to facilitate their integration into the school system here. One of those decisions was a soccer competition between grades. Each grade makes up a team and the staff publishs the schedule of the games and students cheer their teams. Some parents also attend the games. It is a lot of fun. We have a lively campus every weekend.
We give God all the glory and honor for all the things He has done for us. We praise HIM. We worship HIM. We cannot begin to count all our blessings. We humbly say thanks to HIM.
We thank all of you who generously and graciously give so that we can help others, build people and places to welcome people. May the Lord of blessings shower HIS blessings on you.
Humbly yours,
Salonique Adolphe
