Step Out of the Boat
Dear brothers and sisters,
Greetings to all of you in the name of Jesus! I am very happy to have the opportunity to write you, and I pray that this news finds all of you doing well, especially spiritually.
I am sure that most of us have, at some point in our life, accepted second best. I have. Sometimes it is because the very best is not available. Other times it is because the best is costly and risky and we like to play it safe. However, sometimes a willingness to stay safe may be proof of the smallness of our faith.
It was obvious to every leader of Living Water that the ladies were having a tough time feeding the students because of a lack of space. Our effort to buy a piece of property for expansion failed. We then decided we had to enlarge the junior worship so that we can have more space to feed the students. Then, when the time came to remove the tin roof and actually start the work, I wanted to back off from the project. I feared the money we had available would not go very far.
Finally, Jude, our logistic director, said if we are going to do it we need to start now because the summer will go very quickly. I reluctantly agreed for Jude to start. I was afraid that we would uncover the present building, build the walls and have trouble finding sufficient funds to continue with the first phase of the building. Jude started anyway and God has provided for the project to be where it is today. Knowing our situation, and the difficulties our supporters are facing to make ends meet, this is not a small wonder of God. We stepped out of the boat and God made sure we didn’t sink. Not only that, he keeps a smile on our face.Praise be to HIM who is able to provide to our needs! Many churches, VBS, camps and individuals had to step out of their boat to make this possible. We thank you all.
Each square foot of that building costs 15 USD. When the project is completed we will have 5,280 square feet available. What you see in the picture is half of what we need. The rest of the space will be upstairs. We have not yet started the second section because of a shortage of funds. So there is an opportunity to step out of your boat again, or for the first time if you have not done that yet. The Lord will bless you for that. The ladies, students and staff of the school (700 people) and the leaders of Living Water will be very grateful to you. I am glad we stepped out of the boat. We would not enjoy this blessing of God if we did not. God is able and will always be able.Last Sunday, there were 566 people in attendance. Our attendance has been down for the summer and we pray that the Lord will change that as school is getting closer and closer to reopen.
Our youth camp went very well. We praise God for what he did for our young people during the past week in camp. Once again they saw the power of God at work. They returned yesterday.
Our prayer requests will focus more on the school now:- Pray for the needed repairs to take place before the school opens for the academic year 2010-2011.
- Pray that the Lord supplies our need for furniture for the classrooms.
- Pray for the dining hall to continue.
- Pray for our teachers as they are preparing for the next school year.
- Pray for the staff of the school as they are getting ready to serve students, professors, and parents.
- Pray that God brings students who do not know HIM yet to come to that point.
- Pray for the parents of our students — for their physical needs and their spiritual needs.
- Pray that the Lord continues to give us victory over the enemy.
You are very important to us and we love you very much.
Yours and His,
Salonique Adolphe and team
