Installing Stove

Installing Stove

From dream to reality

Dear Alaskan brothers and sisters,

Greetings to you in HIS name!

It was a year and month ago that brother Robert DeVolld opened a letter.  It brought very good news with these words: “Greetings from Alaska”. That was September 17, 2009. This letter was to inform us that the leadership of our beloved Kenai Christian Church has sent a check for 6000 dollars to purchase three propane stoves with three burners each and nine (100 lbs each) tanks.

When we were talking about the installation of these things we were told that they cannot be moved once installed,.  Our building was not made for that and was too small.  We launched the building program of a bigger dinning hall.

Now the lower level of the dinning hall is completed with four ceilling fans installed in the kitchen. Last week the ladies used the same old way to feed the kids. Yesterday there was no feeding as they were installing these propane stoves. Today, they will be used for the first time. So gone are the days of using charcoal if everything flows as we hope.

I thank the whole Church body of Kenai Christian Church for being willing to generously invest so much at Living Water. I thank them for their patience with us as we were trying to get all our ducks in a row before we start using the stoves. The money was not sent too soon, because if we did not have it as an incentive to work on these much needed buildings, Living Water would not be where it is today.

You are giving quality of life and new visions to many at the same time. We now have on campus 760 students. For 740 of them this will be the first propane stove that they have seen. That will give them something to dream about as they are thinking about a better environnement where charcoal will not be the norm to use for fuel, and which will result in the re-forestation of Haiti. Thanks because these stoves will make the job much easier on our ladies. Thanks.

I have included some pictures showing the installation of the stoves. Hopefull they will bring you as much joy as they bring to me seeing this project moves from dream to reality.

I will not be here to eat the first meal cooked on those stoves today. I am on my way to Africa, but I will rejoice just as much hearing about it.

I know that I can’t express my joy to you as well as I would like too, yet my friends I am very, very happy to see this dream comes true. I am very grateful to all of you. You will see the pictures of the stoves in service whenever possible.

God bless you. Living Water kids and people love you.

In Him,
Salonique Adolphe
