Serving HIM instead of the ancestral gods

Serving HIM instead of the ancestral gods

YES, He is worthy …!

Dear brothers and sisters,

Greetings to all of you in the most powerful name ever: JESUS!

I have had a strong desire to write you prior to today. But, it was not easy to do. I am glad that I am able to do it now. May the Lord bless you while you are taking the time to read this e-mail.

This year, we have chosen for our theme: “Who do you serve?” Serve in this context equals worship. We know that some people worship “self,” others worship people. A famous TV show proves that with its title: “American Idol.” Church people have their own idols too. They are preachers or well known speakers. You name it. Still others worship material wealth. You also find those who worship other gods or spirits. We challenge everyone this year and for the rest of their lives to chose with Joshua (24:15) to serve the Lord.

He is the Only One who is worthy of our praise; of our service and of our trust. The Only One! His extravagant love for us, His goodness and faithfulness to us demand our service. On top of all that, He is The Almighty. He never loses a battle. No one can top Him. Yes, He is worthy …!

We made that known during our 8th anniversary celebration. We did that on purpose. We knew that in the audience there were people who were not Christians. We wanted them to know where we stand. We want them to know who deserves the glory and the praise for what has been done in the last 8 years at Living Water. We want them to know we are not afraid of any enemy, because He who is fighting for us is the Almighty GOD. YES, He is worthy of our praises.

Living Water started in a very difficult time in Haiti. It was a time of kidnapping and systematic killing. Yet we are still breathing. Isn’t that wonderful? It was a time of political turmoil. We could almost speak of civil war. Yet we are still alive. Natural disasters of differents kinds stood against us. Yet God has not left us alone. We face spiritual opposition daily, but Our GOD is faithful and has given us victory over and over again — so much so we cannot tell you all He has done, even when we would love to. YES, He is worthy of our trust.

For the 8th anniversary, there were over 2400 people in the service. It was wonderful. It gives me great joy to see those faces coming from different corners of the city and United States. They came to praise JESUS for what He has done for us in the past 8 years. Many have come to know Christ since we started. Many young men have chosen to be preachers of the gospel since we began. Many young ladies have made themselves servants of the Most High God instead of servants of the enemy since 2003. Many have dedicated their lives to the service of the KING since that February 2nd, 2003. Faith has been deepened and lives have changed since then. Is HE worthy? YES, He is.

It would seem to be much easier to count our material blessings. But I have to tell you that I cannot count them. Imagine from a school of 17 students to a school of 800 students. Just think that we have gone from a church of a handful of members to a church of over 800 members. And it is not just one church. It is two and we are looking at starting a third church. It is not just one school. It is two and we are also looking at starting a third school.

What can I say about buildings and land for future expansion? What can I say for you to understand about His monthly provisions in the midst of great economic challenges? He has made it possible for us to pay salaries and to continue with our projects.

Can I give you an account of how He saves the lives of those who are working for HIM here? Would you even believe it if I told you some of their stories?

Working together for HIM

Working together for HIM

Will you be able to understand if I tell you that I have never met some of those who give so that we can go forward in proclaiming the gospel here? It is incredible what God has done.

God has used this place not only to provide a spiritual cure, but also a physical cure. Dr. Hobbs was here to give eye care. As I am writing I can hear the noise of many voices who are desperate for physical care. Already today over 100 people have already been the object of such care. More will be receiving care the rest of the week because a group of nurses, lab techs, Physical therapists, and a physician decided to say with deeds “Happy Valentines Day” to those living in Gonaives. The fun part is that we are serving both Christians and non-Christians in the name of Jesus. I could go on, but I think that you have joined me in concluding that God is worthy of our service of our worship.

To all those individuals who have always been by our side during those 8 years, I say “Thanks”. I could name many, many people, but I will mention Jon and Kathy Reese. They represent all of you who have been giving sacrificially for the progress of the gospel here. I want also to choose one church to represent the rest of the churches, Wildwood Church of Christ in Gary, IN. Thanks to the Sorrells family who have been so good toward the Adolphe family. May the Lord comfort them for our sake.

Beloved, I challenge you to serve Jesus and only Jesus.

In Him,
Salonique and team.
