Blessings!!!

Dear brothers and sisters,

Greetings in His name!

Christians shouldn’t go through a day without praising God for His mighty deeds, His grace, and His blessings on our behalf. Some of them we know about and others we don’t know. I suspect that those we don’t know about are many more than the ones we do know. He has done some of them in the apparent silence of the invisible world. Unfortunately, we often take for granted the ones we know, or we forget them so easily. We don’t care enough to thank God for them. As a simple example, breathing is something we do several times a minute, we usually go through the day not even thinking about it. Breathing is a blessing.

At Living Water we enjoy blessings upon blessings. Counting them would be an impossible task. However we often try to number some of them. We have had the feeding program at the school now for three straight years. What a blessing! It is a blessing for the students, parents, teachers and why not the country as a whole. This one hot meal spares us a lot of headaches, reduces arguments between students and we have fewer complaints in class. It is a relief for many, many parents.

Some of our students joke, and others say it half-way seriously, “If the cafeteria is going to close for a day, we need to close the school too.” We thank God for those who make that hot meal possible:

  • Those who sponsor the school children
  • Those who support our RBK (Rice and Beans for Kids)
  • The  churches who care
  • IDES

Thanks to all of you. You are a blessing that we don’t want to take for granted. The students, professors, parents and staff at Living Water thank you!!!

This month we have been blessed by some wonderful people who have come to visit us from America. Our first team came from Missouri, followed by Paul Green from Alaska. Then came the team from Cincinnati, Bridgetown Church of Christ. What a golden bunch!

The team was led by Jennifer Burch. She has been in Haiti a number of times. She had only wonderful team members: Joe and Karen Hahn, Jamie, John and Jill, Lathan and Lisa, Chris and Andrea, David and Krista, and Andy. They are hard working people who have a hard time going through a day without doing some physical work. They have been a huge encouragement to all of us.

  • They visited all the sites of Living Water, including Marmelade.
  • They have been in different classrooms.
  • Some did different activities based on their area of expertise.
  • They have enjoyed the company of our students and taught them.
  • They taught our ladies (90 plus women).
  • Brother Joe preached.
  • They planted trees.
  • They cooked, fed our staff, and the list goes on.

They have blessed Living Water as a whole, and my family in particular. I can’t list all the blessings that these people represent. Let me say that this group is a fountain of blessings. I praise God for them.

My wife has already called me to leave the computer as I am typing this line. I hear the bus parking in front of our house. Manno has arrived to pick me up to go to Port-au-Prince to welcome another group arriving this afternoon. I know we will continue to be blessed by this group. Pray for them. Pray that the Lord may use them to continue the transformation of the Haitian people that Living Water is engaging in for the glory of God.

Everyone who reads this message is a blessing to us. May God shower His blessings on you and may you take time everyday to count at least some of them.

In Christ,

Salonique
