Dear family, friends and teammates,
A warm Christmas greetings to all of you in the name of the One who was born in Bethlehem that special night!
It is windy here. Tonight we don’t have the sound of loud speakers blasting all over the city like last night. People are tired for not sleeping last night because of all the festivity of the season. [Editor: Haitians try to stay up all night on Christmas eve] It is Christmas night with the temperature around 70.
It is a very busy weekend. Four weddings and one funeral in two days. Gine is not home. I am helpless, even though she prepared things for me before leaving. I am still lost, but will survive (I hope). It has been a great week with the inauguration of the new church building. I am still up in the air, and too busy to land right now. I am overjoyed. I am grateful. I am honored and feel privileged to be called a servant of the One who was born in Bethlehem. What a King! What a Savior! What a mighty God! It is a week of remembrance. Remembering those who gave for the construction of the new church building. Remembering those who worked on it to make it a reality — both Americans and Haitians. Remembering the generosity, the sacrifices of many donors. Remembering the prayers offered by many Church members to God to provide for its construction. Remembering that when men do not keep their promises, God still does. Remembering the humility of many who have worked hard in the heat of Haiti to see its reality.
It is a week of thankfulness to those who came for the celebration. Thanks to the Terry and Popi Koutz, Cody McDaniels, John Mitchel and Joe Mitchel, Tim and Julie Crockett, Dr. Tom Sharp, Clifford and Debbie Fairless, and Brian Sevits. You have been a blessing to all of us. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
It is a week of challenge. The year is closing. 2016 will appear before the end of the coming week. How will we be doing in winning the lost in 2016? How will we be doing in: discipleship? Leadership building? Spiritual growth? Numerical growth? The spiritual battle? It is a week to call for help. We are too ordinary for such an extraordinary work. So we need help: Help through prayers. Help through advice. Help through encouragement. Help through coming alongside of us to make things happen for the Kingdom.
It is Christmas night as I write this, so merry Christmas to all of you. May the joy of Christmas not erode with the expiration of those 24 hours! May the spirit of Christmas, which is a spirit of humbleness, humility, love and sacrifice stay with us unto this coming year! May we have “Christ” “Mas” in our lives every day for the rest of this year and throughout the next year.We have a lot of photos we could have shared. We offer these in hope you can catch a glimpse what took place here this week.
Again, Merry Christmas and God bless you.
In Christ,
Salonique and team
