Team work
“It takes a village to raise a child” and “neighbors are a family” are among the famous proverbs in Haiti. They send a message about team work, relationships and the value of other people. You can add your own proverb.
It was 3 AM when my phone rang. Bewildered, I picked it up. It was my neighbor accross the street whose wife was expecting. He wanted my wife’s service. Well, half awake and half asleep with pain in her lower back, she woke up and the next thing I knew, one of the rooms of our house was turned into a delivery room. Two hours later our neighbor had twin boys. My wife was the leader, but she assigned jobs to the other ladies who were there to help. The delivery was team work. Mom is now home and happy with her twin boys after having two girls. Some names of team members will never be famous. Nevertheless they are all players and not players of little importance for there is not such a thing.
The grade school boys Colin and Rubens always work together in anything they do. Colin likes his blue shirt. Rubens, who is a student at Living Water and sponsored by a family in Martelle Christian Church in IA, is a hard worker. Their names are rarely heard but they are top workers.
We clap for the cooks when we remember, usually after eating, yeah! But they feed our laughs. They make our mouths water and satisfy our hungry stomach.
Murielle (red shirt) and Josiane are both secretaries at Living Water. They take off their high heels to feed tens of hungry men who are doing next to impossible jobs.
Alourde is our cleaning gal and a tough worker (black shirt). She is making the day for the men by feeding them.Have you seen the picture of the helpers unloading the BUV? Do you recognize these people? You may see a few faces that look familiar, but you do not know most of them. They unloaded the BUV as a team. They are nameless. God knows them. That may not sound like much praise but He rewards His servants.
We now enjoy clean chairs every day of the week and particularly on Sunday. To do so we had to have brothers Wilson, Francely and Michee (left to right) clean them. We still need team work.
The funny thing about this is that your name is among the many nameless people who pray for Living Water. Most of the people here who are enjoying the blessings of your prayers on their behalf will never meet you on this side of eternity. If they heard your name it would take them the rest of their lives to try to remember. Your name would probably sound funny to their ears and their tongues would have a tough time to say it. Yet you are a valuable player, even the MVP. The same is true for many of you who give, however “He knows my name” and He knows yours. For His glory,
His team
“Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty.” … “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the fundation of this temple, his hands will also complete it.” (Zech 4:6, 9)
