Campers Clean their Plates

Moving into the Future Fully Relying on God

Dear brothers and sisters,

Every time I am going to write an email in the last few years I wish I had only wonderful news to share; news that would let you know that safety is back and you can come back to Haiti again. I really hope that I can tell you this in 2026. In the meantime, we continue to move into the future fully relying on God!

This week, a report came out stating that 5 million Haitians face food insecurity, and 1.4 million are living in tents, of course, away from their homes. They are attempting to stay alive.

Seeing how difficult life is for the people in my surrounding, believing that almost half of the population of Haiti is facing food insecurity is not hard to believe. Parents do not know what else to do to feed their kids. Some have done the unimaginable just to find a meal for their kids. It breaks my heart into pieces to see what people are going through with my own eyes, and to listen to their stories and their plights that they would not want to share with anyone. They still have hope someone will do something good for them. My friends, those days are tougher than one could imagine.

Every year First Christian Church of Mountain Grove sponsors a kids camp at Living Water. This year the main campus could not host it. But my wife, Widler, a few other people, and I knew the camp would be good for both parents and kids. We decided that the church at White Mountain would need to lead it. They did. They did an amazing job. They had about 170 kids. When we added cooks, helpers, and teachers, it was about 200 people. Kids learned songs, Bible lessons, games, and crafts. They also played ball on the school yard of Mixt Institution Fred Joseph Green. They had a blast. They certainly enjoyed the meals too.

The Harts and the Wilkinsons have been by my side as partners in ministry way before Living Water began in 2002. Ron and his late wife Sheila are wonderful friends and generous people. Knowing Sheila’s love for kids Ron decided to bless the kids of Living Water with a special gift. That gift has made it possible for about 250 to 300 kids (a few teenagers included) to have breakfast at the church every Sunday. It is an egg sandwich with a cup of juice. They enjoy it. They are grateful to their brother Ron for such generosity.

The health clinic continues to be a blessing to the community. Dr. has decided to not just see patients, but to spend some time with them teaching them some preventive measures to avoid some diseases or to know how to deal with them. While doing that as a pastor at heart, he shares the Good News with people.

Although Haiti’s situation could be depressing, we continue to dream of a better future for Haiti. In that future, we will need church leaders, and preachers. We will need leaders and workers for all the different aspects of national life. So, with God, we are engaging in training them. My friends, would you believe that one of our major problems is a lack of classrooms. We seem not to be able to keep up. We need classrooms for Marmelade, White Mountain, Highland, and here in Gonaives. The vocational school needs more classrooms, especially the Seamstress School. The University needs more classrooms. In the College of Business Administration alone, as of yesterday, we are expecting close to 100 students (95 to be exact). That does not include Nursing, Elementary Education, High School education, and Bible College.

We want to commit to train those people because soon, very soon, they will be among the deciders in Haiti. We are engaging in doing that fully relying on God, on your generosity, and on your prayers. Please, let us do it together for the sake of the Kingdom of God.

Brothers and sisters, if all goes well, I will be in the United States from the 8th of November into December. I wanted to leave earlier so that I could visit with my brothers and sister in Nebo, KY, but it is not possible for me to leave earlier.

Pray for us! Praise God with us for the many things He has done! Thank you for your prayers and your generosity.

Yours and HIS,

Salonique Adolphe and Team
