White Mountain
The third church established by Living Water is on the northern edge of Gonaives in a desert-like area called White Mountain. It is an elevated area that only began to grow after the recent hurricanes and flooding that damaged the costal town of Gonaives. The area has neither water nor electricity. People need to walk 1 to 3 miles to fetch water in buckets. One of the first projects for this location was to drill a well and create a reservoir to supply the community. The Living Water church is providing water for living. The church was launched on August 5, 2012 after breaking ground on November 25, 2011. The second picture shows the leaders of the new church. Seated in the foreground, from left to right we have McKendy Cambronne, Casséus Joseph, the minister and Micah Prophete.Life is hard in this area. The well had to be drilled 200 feet to find a suitable supply of water. A generator is necessary to pump the water and provide electricity for the church. The efforts of the church have been appreciated by the community. Several people have given their lives to Jesus and church attendance continues to grow. They began with about 75 people and only five months later they sometimes have 120 people in service.
The church members are very enthusiastic and have even started a choir. Brother Casséus teaches a Sunday School class to help the new Christians grow in their spiritual lives. Please pray for the new church members as they begin their journey through life with Jesus.
