It is the Lord’s day. As this is not just a day as usual for us, we had a special service. We were not even on the same page as far as the time to start. Ezechiel and a handful of people thought that were to start at 7 AM and the rest of us knew it was 8 AM. So it was a surprise to me when I heard Ezechiel’s voice from my house singing to start Sunday School. Surprise! We got there as fast as we could.
We had the whole balcony filled. Someone counted 94 people but we were in the neighborhood of 100 people. Consequently we have already realized that next Sunday we will not be able to meet on the balcony. We will work hard in order to have the junior worship place ready since it is smaller and maybe easier to get ready. Today we sang very few songs and made very few prayers, but we let the people tell their stories of how God rescued them. It was like everybody was answering the question “Why am I still alive”?. It was a time of tears and laughter as we heard about the rescue efforts of the angels. One of our sisters, sister Dieulita, is grateful that her whole family is alive. She lost her house, 39 goats, which was her livelihood, and a farm of sugar cane and plantain. Another told how she arrived at a point where she gave up all hope of life again, yet God provided a shield for them and they came out alive. The stories go on.
Tomorrow we will have another busy day. Twenty young men will be engaged in delivering food packages and another 25 or so will be cleaning the junior worship building. The two teams will meet for lunch on campus. I will go to Port-au-Prince to get some provision for the Living Water family.
We love you. We thank you for your kindness. We praise God for you. Oh, I almost forget that one lady who was a Christian but who fell away came back this morning. She gave her testimony and gave her life back to Christ. Rejoice! You played a part in that with your prayers and with your gracious gifts.
Your servant and HIS,
