Through HIM Alone!
Dear brothers and sisters,
Greetings in the name of Our Wonderful Lord and Savior, Jesus! I finally have the opportunity to complete this email here in Alaska at the home of my friends Miles and Jennifer Jones.
If I were to say life on this earth is not easy, many of you would rightfully say that I had not told you anything that you did not know. We are all experiencing some kind of pain and grief. We are all suffering. A deceased family member or friend, the need to have children in a happy marriage, a family member far away from the Lord, a terminal illness, a brutal separation or a divorce, financial challenges of a family, a Church split, the loss of a job or of a home, or the simple reality of living in an unsafe environment, all of those situations and many more cause us to suffer.
Despite our sufferings, God expects us to persevere, and to remain faithful or loyal to Him. And, if we look back, we will see that God has seen us through lots of sufferings prior to the ones we are now in. We may even wonder, how in the world we made it that far? Well, through Him alone!
We have fought many battles and have gone through trials at Living Water. We have won those battles and grown through the trials. We have also faced many challenges, but we have overcome those challenges. It has never been by our might, but through Him alone! The same is true to you. The dire moments that you are facing today will make you and not break you. Again, through Him alone.
The last school year was very difficult. The threats of kidnapping our teachers and students. The financial challenges of the ministry, and the simple fact of being in an unsafe and unsettled political environment were scary. But God has seen us through them all.
We rejoice that despite the catastrophic result of government tests nationwide, we praise God for giving us a 95% thru 100% success in Gonaives and Marmelade. We had understandably a lower success rate in Highland, but still rejoice because of how the school year was.
It is true that the other schools of the mission have been in function for the last three weeks. Next Monday the John-Helen Meyer school will resume functioning. We will not use the highway, which is gang territory, but we will use the tiring and challenging backroad to go serving the children of Highland.
The radio ministry has recently been a challenge. Our equipment needs to be renewed. The breakdown of our equipment has had a negative influence on our radio programs. We have been forced twice in two months to stop serving the people because of that. As I am writing, the radio is not on the air. Please pray that those problems can be solved to resume teaching, preaching God’s word to people.
Caribbean Christian University and Mixt Institution Fred Joseph Green have entered their second year of service in education to the Haitian people. The Nursing program will be launching this coming October and registration is underway. Fred Joseph Green school is expecting 112 students this year based on the registration. We have major work to do on that campus like finishing the wall and adding more classrooms. We praise God for putting those two new educational institutions at the service of the people. We also want you to know that by the grace of God major changes are being made at the health clinic and will soon be equipped with a bigger lab and a whole new solar system, thanks to IAMM, to serve our people more efficiently.
Last month, White Mountain congregation celebrated their 11th anniversary. They had a very nice celebration. Those years of service would be impossible if it were not for the power of God.
The situation in Haiti continues its downward spiral. The country has had a string of massacres one after another in different parts of the country. Added to all of that, the conflict between Haiti and Dominican Republic over the river dispute have made things worse. Yes, worse! Yet, we believe God will intervene in our favor to change for the best the situation of Haiti and her people.
If you have not been supporting Living Water financially, please prayerfully consider doing so from now on. If you did in the past and have stopped, take another look at your financial situation, and see if there is a sacrifice you can make to resume supporting the ministry. We have major challenges to honor monthly salaries of our employees, but with your obedience to God will be able to overcome our challenges.
We will continue to positively impact Haiti and Haitian people through Jesus Christ. Let us boldly declare the impact will be made through Him alone.
In Christ,
Salonique Adolphe and team
