Removing mud from the stairs

Progress indeed

Dear brothers and sisters,

Greetings to you in the Most Holy name, JESUS! Yes, JESUS.

I fought with myself to send an e-mail last night but I finally gave up. We went to Port-au-Prince Wednesday to buy a variety of things to share with the community and for office purposes as we are preparing once again for the school year. This time we bought Bibles, mosquito nets, office supplies, some food, etc. We filled a rented pick up truck to the top. My wife, Micah, the pricipal of the school, Mr. Fevrier and I made up the team who went to Port-au-Prince. Fevrier and I sat on the back of the pick up for 4 and half hours each way on the dusty road. After we returned I was very tired. It may partly explain why I again have a runny nose, cough and pain all over my body. I wish I could walk/drive to Walmart to pick up some multivitmins, particularly vitamin C. This would be a big help with our physical condition. Many of us have the same problems: cough, headache, running nose and diarrhea. You get the picture.

Cleaning one inch of mud after anotherIn spite of the fact that many of us are sick we continue to make progress. Perhaps like us, sometimes you have done quite a lot of work but it doesn’t look like much. This is our case. We have washed and cleaned all the classrooms. When we are inside we feel great. But once we step out and see the school yard we feel that we have not done a thing yet. This can be discouraging. That is why we keep seeing the inches of progress we make daily. It is progress and progress indeed. We cheer our people for working tirelessly to do what we are able to do with just our hands. We don’t only clean classrooms but we also continue to move more dirt so that we can get somewhat ready for school in just three weeks.

Moving the generator from site to site

Moving the generator from site to site

I thank God for Timberlake Christian Church. Last year they sent us a brand new 3,000 watt generator. When Hurricane Hanna hit us I and my bigger boys Elie and Samuel decide to rescue the internet equipment and the small generator. Praise God we did that. Because of that generator we have been able to communicate with all of you by sending e-mails and reading e-mails. What if Timberlake did not send this to us last year? What would we do? Praise God for them.

What have we been doing the last two weeks? We were washing dirty walls, pews, benches and floors among other things. Guess what we used to power our water pump? The generator. We move it from site to site to facilatate cleaning. We could not predict last year that the generator would be used this way on a daily basis. May God bless all those who contributed to buy this generator. It facilitates our progress.

The wall remains between the market and our propertyMay God bless my friend Doug Delp who is the preacher at Timberlake Christian Church. He constantly and consistently encourages me to go forward. He even makes me realize that I can do more.

Those of you who were involved in building the wall will appreciate a picture in this article. You may remember that one of the reasons we were pushing to build the wall was to protect our land from the public market. Do you remember? Well look closely. The water destroyed the wall of the Church property. But on the side that separates us from the market not one block fell. God’s invisible hands are visible in this act. So we don’t have to be worried about the market people invading our land, even after Hanna.

Preparing for more food distribution

Preparing for more food distribution

We are preparing for another food distribution. This time it will be rice, beans and cooking oil. Thanks to all of you who are contributing. The money you give is feeding many people every day. It will feed hundreds of kids when school opens. It will make it possible for many kids to go to school who would not go. It will provide school supplies for many students. What we will be able to do will depend on the funds we receive. We are doing everything with joy for the Glory of the King of kings. We are making progress and more progress is coming. Next week! Oh, oh, enjoy the Lord’s day tomorrow. I am looking forward to Sunday worship.

Your brother in Christ,

Salonique Adolphe
