Contemplate your blessings
Dear brothers and sisters,
Greetings to you in the name of HIM who never ceases to shower His blessings on us — that is our Lord Jesus.
The song writer of old challenged us to “count our blessings” and to “name them one by one.” This is an exercise that we should do everyday, if not more often. Living Water is located just a quarter of a mile from a little community called Jolimet. Everybody in Jolimet is very poor, I mean that they are the poorest of the poor. A very small percentage of them are Christian. Some of those people go to Living Water. After the Hurricane they received everything that we distributed: food, mosquito nets and an opportunity for education. During the Hurricane their bridge has destroyed. It was made of wood so there was no chance of it surviving. The government has not helped them, so we took the initiative to build a new bridge for them. We provided the funds for all the materials. We provided people to help them plan and we encouraged them to do it themselves, and they did it. Now a bridge is built. I anticipate the relationship of that community and Living Water will improve. Serving this little community is a blessing to us. It helps us making a difference in the lives of many there.
Last week we baptized three young girls. They are Linda, Roseverly and Verna. They turned their back on Voodoo to embrace Jesus Christ as their Savior. The picture shows Verna. Pray for them. You know that it is a blessing to be servants of God. We have the privilege of showing Christ to many people and participate in their process of becoming child of God.
Have you ever considered being served by another child of God as a blessing? I am pretty sure that you have. Last week, Central Christian College of the Bible sent us some of their best servants of God in their student body. They worked very hard. I saw their skin turn pink. I saw sweat in their eyebrows, yet they never complained. I am sharing a picture of Brianna, Ashley and Hannah cleaning tiles. Those tiles have been under mud from the Hurricanes.
Last weekend we welcomed the goods from the bus that was shipped to us by our brothers and sisters from many parts of the States. We were waiting for them like dry ground waits for the rain. In fact Micah and Georges hooked up the computers that were in the bus the same evening they received them. Jude the musician used the speakers, guitars and the like found in the bus the very same day as they were rehearsing for service the next day. I could go on.You will see in the picture two buses: a yellow and a blue. The yellow one is the new bus loaded with goods and the blue one is the old bus that we use to put everything unloaded from the old. They are huge blessings. We thank God for IDES. They paid for the old bus to be here and they helped pay for the new bus to be here as well. The bus has made it easier to transport missionaries to and from the airport on many occasions. They helped campers from various Churches to have free transportation to their campsite. They helped students and Church members to move.
Thank God for International Disaster and Emergency Services. Thanks to our brothers Larry Sims and his coworkers who are doing a good job for the kingdom in many parts of the world. Many families of Living Water will have their homes rebuilt also because of the generosity of our brothers and sister of IDES. The buses and IDES are blessings from God from to us.We thank God for those who continually come to worship HIM at Living Water. More than 500 people were in worship with us last Sunday. That is almost 100 more than the previous Sunday. Seeing people coming to worship the Lord and to listen to the word preached is a treamendous blessing. We had brother Joe Green bless us with an excellent message. Many people commented about how the message blessed them.
We could go on and on, but we will stop here for now. Have a blessed day and take time to contemplate all your blessings. Did you know that we do not even know them all? There are things that God has done for us that we do not even aware of. For them also God we thank you.In Him,
Salonique and team
