Living Water Report
Dear brothers and sisters,
Greetings to you in His name!
Many days have past since I have written. We have been very busy getting our students ready for government exams. We have also had multiple attacks from demons. In fact, the last two weeks, Luke has barely had any sleep. He has just told me that he is praying for five hours of sleep tonight. He would be elated to get that much sleep.
Church is going good although we have observed a decline in attendance in the last two Sundays. Rain on Saturday plays into the decline. Lately we have had many families affected by deaths of loved ones and a number of sick people. On top of that it is Summer. Many have returned to their home village in the Summer here. Last Sunday we had 597 people in worship, a big low from previous Sundays.
We are very busy here working toward the transitional building. The original schedule to clean and clear the property was end of July, but we are working on the end of this month instead. So we started the cleaning last Monday. There is lots of work to be done, especially when we are doing it with machetes and hoes. It is the church people who are doing the work. In the meantime, we continue to multiply our efforts to raise local funds, for “little is much when God is in it.”You have probably heard about the big come back of the cholera. Last Friday night, I was called to transport to the hospital one of our members who was vomiting and had dirrhea. Lo and behold, it was cholera. She is still not getting over it. She is at a cholera treatment center. Again many things that happened in the last few days remind us of the necessity of the health clinic.
Would you believe that a 12 year-old boy died last week in Gonaives because they could not find one surgeon to perform a simple surgery on him in a city of our size. The wife of our discipline director was transferred to a hospital several miles outside of Gonaives because they could not find a Gynecologist to help her out in the city. To make things worse the only doctor who could help her was out of the city. Praise God the Lord has intervened and improved her situation, but it was not human doctors who did it. I know all of you love Haiti. One thing you can do is to pray for health specialists for Haiti and pray for more church hospitals and clinics to be opened all over the land. Pray particularly for the project of our clinic. We want to start the building as soon as we can afford to do so.
I want to present a special thanks to the Kenai Christian Church team that was with us almost a month ago. They left me with some funds and they said that they would be pleased if we replaced Ezechiel’s stolen motor bike and so we did. Ezechiel is our minister at the church in Marmelade. You will see him proudly sitting on his brand new motorbike. Thanks to all of you. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and faithful support. We would not be able to do much without you. We commend you for staying by our side in such a critical time. God will multiply blessings for doing that. We also pray for many of you by name and with your specific problems that we know of. We want you to know that we love and appreciate your patnership with us.
