A Time for Celebration

Dear Teammates,

In every corner of the world it is a time for celebration now because the World Cup is going on. Some celebrate the entire event. Others just celebrate the goals of their favorite soccer players. Still others celebrate their favorite teams. This month-long event brings a lot of joy, fear, tears and cheers. Every game is an occasion for celebration for many.

At Living Water it is a time for celebration in our camp as well. The celebration that the World Cup brings is temporal, but ours is eternal and has everlasting implications. We want to celebrate because many of you have responded favorably to our plea on behalf of the construction or the salaries dilemma. We are grateful to you! We want you to know that as a result of your giving, the western roof on the first floor is now poured. Less than 15 days ago we could not talk about the roof but now it is in place. Thank YOU!

While we celebrate this realization I want to remind you to stick with us in the battle of finishing the transitional building. We will gather there on Sunday to worship, to teach and to be taught. During the week we will be able to use the classrooms to train many in different subjects. We count on your prayers and your continuous generosity.

We should also celebrate the team work in pouring the concrete roof. Last week we had a team from Mount Carmel Christian Church (Cincinnati, OH). The team was made up of people of different talents and physical strength. Some were involved in painting and laying tiles. The bolder and stronger ones were also involved in the process of mixing and carrying concrete for the roof. It was a nice image of seeing Haitians and Americans working together to foster progress in the church building. This working together needs to be celebrated, especially when it was done under the hot, scorching Haitian sun. We did have a great time worshiping together on Sunday as well.

One of my college professors used to announce his test by saying, “It is about time for a celebration of learning.” The students would never call testing time with our beloved professor “a celebration.” If it did one thing it motivated the students to pray for “squiggles.” The prof put those squiggly lines in an answer that was not perfect, but still acceptable. The students celebrated those “squiggly lines”.

Based on our third photo we need to celebrate the fact that young people are delving into the Word. They had some kind of research guide. We need to celebrate the learning of the Word of God in a time like this. Partners and teammates there are many, many more young men and women out there that we need to win. Let us work at winning them till the day of the final and grand celebration in heaven.

May God bless you! May His face shine on you and yours!

In Christ,

Salonique and Team
