HE is on our side!

Dear brothers and sisters,

Over and over we have seen God’s hands at work on behalf of Living Water. As we are getting ready for the next school year we have a lot of spending to do. Gine, my wife, had some funds to buy food in large quantity in preparation to feed the school children. Well, a robber came close to grabbing the yellow envelop with the money while she was at the public market. Thank God for the lady my wife was buying from who signaled to my wife so that she could see the robber. She did. The most shocking thing was the robber was mad for the fact he lost the catch. He even thought twice before running away. God is on our side and we didn’t lose the money.

As part of our preparation for the new school year we are preparing three classrooms. We want them to look better. Yesterday we had a long meeting with the teachers. We will have a meeting with the parents next week.

We have not received the results for all the grades who were taking the government tests. We have the sixth grade result back with a 100% success rate. We praise God for that. For 9th grade, the result is catastrophic. We only had 46% success and the national average is below that. However, our principal is not satisfied with the grades of several of our students in a specific class (Math and other). He is going to contend the result for several students. He is confident that there is no way some of those students could fail the test. We will wait and see.

We don’t have the van and the dump truck yet, but I want you all to know that they have arrived. We are in the process of getting them off the dock. There is lots of work waiting for the dump truck to do, especially on the church and clinic construction. This is going to save us some money. Praise the Lord.

Our first week of small group meetings went very well. We had five times more people participating in the services. We had meetings in more than 20 homes. We now have more emerging leaders. We had a number of visitors in different small groups. As a whole the experience is really positive and we pray that it continues that way.

I am convinced that God is on our side whenever I see the people that God is using to make the Church goes forward. One of those individuals is Habakku. We also have Christian who is making a great contribution to the worship service, along with other musicians. I praise God for these young men. I also praise God for the fellowship that exists among members of different Sunday school classes. They have an incredible bond with each other. We pray that God will strengthen those bonds.

As I am writing the sky is really cloudy. We have had scattered rain showers throughout the day because of Hurricane Irene. I read that it has caused floods in the northern part of the country but here things are going well for us. The rain raises concerns but we are fine. We do want to see the bright sun again. The people will feel much better when Irene is completely dead, not just for our sake, but also for the sake of the other nations in the Caribbean, particularly the Bahamas and the east coast of the USA.

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord Almighty.” … “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this temple, his hands will also complete it.” (Zech 4:6, 9)
