A new beginning

Dear brothers and sisters,

Greetings to all of you in the name of Our Lord, Savior and God: JESUS!

Today is 10-01-10. One of my former teachers, I am sure, would have some comment to make about it. Please don’t ask me what the comment would be, because I don’t know. I just know he likes those things as much as he likes alliteration.

It is 2010 and 2009 is no more. We are in a new beginning. Here at Living Water this new beginning is both physical and spiritual.

The Bobcat is a useful tool

The Bobcat is a useful tool

Physically we are beginning the reconstruction of the wall at the new church property and most of the footers are in place. In one picture you will see the footer with the columns in place. Tomorrow they will start laying blocks for the north wall to make sure we are separated from the market. How far we will go in that work we don’t know. We will use what God has provided to work on it until it is completed.

Though I do not have any pictures yet to prove it, the weekend soccer games resumed on the soccer field at the school after the bobcat finished leveling and clearing a good chunk of it. This tool which Jude likes very much, is very, very useful. People in the Church see its usefulness. Just today, one of the members of Living Water approach wondering when will we be able to go work on her yard, because since the hurricanes 16 months ago, she has not returned to her home yet. Well, I referred her to Jude who deals with those things. Many people will have a new beginning because of the Bobcat. I am sure the students will be glad to have their field back again when they come to school tomorrow.

First service people heading home

First service people heading home

The Bible says “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature”. All the brothers and sisters who are heading home to Jesus have had a new beginning. For some it is a few years back.  For others it was a few weeks/days ago. They have already had great experiences with Jesus, who sets the captives free.

This morning at church one of our tenth graders, who gave herself to Christ at Living Water, was sharing a wonderful experience. Briefly, her mom was sick for ten years. Then the 10th grader encouraged her mom to come to Christ. When she did she was healed. Last week her mom’s life was in danger again.  The doctors could not do anything for her, and they couldn’t afford the medicine they were prescribing. She  reminded God what He had done in the past and prayed for God to deliver her mom again in the present. Well, guess what.  Her mom is well and is home. Praise God for the faith of Jasmine.

Brother Gesner shares his struggle

Brother Gesner shares his struggle

Another story is brother Gesner Auxemy. He works in masonry and his specialty is in pouring concrete roofs. He made the decision not to miss church for any reason, except terrible sickness. Then what happened?  He would spend the whole week without finding any jobs.  But every time Sunday rolled around he always found somebody offering him a job.  He says, “I don’t understand this. Satan is luring me back, I am tempted, but I am not going back.” Please pray for brother Gesner as he is facing those challenges.  He has, I believe, 5 children and a wife to take care of.

It is a new beginning. We have a lot of things for which we are grateful to God.  We have a lot of things that we hope to see done in 2010. Please join us in prayer:

  • For the completion of the wall of the Church property.
  • For the building of an eating hall where all our students will be able to eat at once.
  • For the radio station.
  • For meetings to take place on the issue of starting the health clinic
  • For the basketball court for our student body
  • For the beginning of the actual Church building
  • For winning more souls in the schools, the vocational school, and in the community for the Lord
  • For the spiritual and biblical growth of our leadership
  • For the spiritual maturity of members at Living Water both here in Gonaives and in Marmelade and
  • For … (you add)

May we all grow closer to God in this year of 2010.

In Christ,

Salonique Adolphe
