News at last!!!

Dearest friends and supporters,

It is with great joy that, at last, I am able to drop you a few words. May God shower HIS blessings on you all and may He guide your wheel each and every day.

School was supposed to open next Monday, September 7th. Bbut it appears that classes will begin on the 14th, a week later. As students were getting ready to go back to school several of them received prized gifts from their sponsors. Thanks to all of you who sent boxes. They made the days, weeks and maybe the life of those kids.

On the 28th of August members of the two youth groups, along with some adults from Living Water in Gonaives, went on a field trip. They were in Fort Jacques (Fort James), a historical site. Then they stopped at the Caries to enjoy the deep blue ocean. I was not able to go because my weekend was spent between funeral homes and Churches. I took part in three funerals in two days (Friday and Saturday). In two of them the burial was out of town.

We had 482 people in worship last Sunday and two of them were baptized into Christ the week before. There was a third person who got baptized, but she was not able to make it to Church. I know that lady’s choice to be baptized into Christ made her husband very happy. This coming Sunday, September 6th, we will experience for the first time having two worship services for the adults. Please pray for that. It appears that Satan does not like that move.

Work on the school continues. We hope to get the wall of the school completed this week. We still have the gates left to be set in place.

As I am writing, I cannot tell how many students we will have this school year. But it is certain that we will need two classrooms for the 7th grade. Last night we had 76 people registered for the 7th grade.

Today marks the first anniversary of Hurricane Hannah. The weather was slightly threatening. The sky was dark part of the day yesterday and today. It was a terrible reminder of how the day started a year ago. I am even told some people quickly left the city when they saw that. And as I am typing, my wife is closely watching the sky. Pray for our people.

I have some special prayer requests. Please thank God for the following:

  1. Rebuilding the wall of the school
  2. Finishing the outside wall of the school
  3. Laying tiles in two classrooms and offices
  4. The precious gift of the BUV by Iron men of Indianapolis. This vehicle is a huge and valuable blessing. My wife can’t imagine us functionning without it.
  5. Our dedicated leaders

Please pray for:

  1. Rebuilding the wall of the school
  2. Funds for the cafeteria. We are going to feed more people this year
  3. Funds for the school salaries. All the salaries of our teachers and several staff members are now higher but some of the teachers are not satisfied with the raise. They think it is too small.
  4. All the leaders of the Church. We are facing major challenges but I am convinced that your prayers will help us to overcome them all.
  5. Me. I need wisdom from God. I feel overwhelmed at the present.

Thanks to all of you who graciously and generously give toward Living Water. You are making an eternal impact. You are making a difference in the lives of hundreds, if not thousands of people. We need your partnership. We need your friendship. We need you.

In Christ,
